Stay Protected, Stay Healthy: Guidelines for Preventing Influenza

As a health center, Wellmart Health Solutions prioritizes the health and well-being of our clients, staff, and community. Given the recent outbreak of seasonal influenza in Ghana, we've compiled guidelines to help prevent the spread of the virus.

Who's Most at Risk?

  • Children and adolescents, especially those in schools

  • Older adults

  • Pregnant women

  • People with chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease

Prevention is Key

  1. Practice good hand hygiene: Wash hands regularly with soap and water or use hand sanitizer

  2. Stay home when ill: Avoid infecting others if you're experiencing flu-like symptoms

  3. Cover coughs and sneezes: Use a tissue or your elbow to prevent spreading respiratory droplets

  4. Disinfect frequently touched surfaces: Regularly clean surfaces to reduce the risk of transmission

  5. Avoid crowded places and close contact with sick individuals: When possible, maintain a safe distance from others to prevent close contact

Recognizing Influenza Symptoms

  • Sudden onset of fever

  • Cough

  • Sore throat

  • Runny nose

  • Body aches

  • Headache

  • Fatigue

What to Do If You're Sick

  1. Seek medical attention early: If you develop flu-like symptoms, our doors are open everyday. Our Medical center is opened from 8am to 8pm everyday while our Pharmacy is opened 7am to 10:30pm everyday

  2. Follow treatment guidelines: Adhere to medication regimens and recommendations from healthcare professionals
